Borocarbs comprise a kingdom of life on the planet Impendia, characterized by metabolisms which produce ceramic-like external structures for armor. Most notably, these structures have been analyzed by scientists and are being developed as armor and in some unorthodox instances in underground societies is grafted onto the bodies of other species, either by choice or as initiation into gangs, or, in the case of slave labor, for the protection of property.
